The Saveetha Engineering College Boys Hostel introduces an innovative dormitory-style layout with a mezzanine steel floor system. This unique structural approach effectively doubles the usable floor area within the same building volume, accommodating more students without increasing the building footprint. The steel mezzanine floors are lightweight, quick to install, and can be reconfigured as needs change.
The convertible design is a standout feature — the building can be adapted from dormitory-style shared accommodation to individual room configurations, or vice versa, by rearranging partition systems. This flexibility ensures the hostel remains relevant and efficient regardless of changing enrollment patterns or student preferences. The design also incorporates adequate common areas, laundry facilities, and study spaces that support a balanced student lifestyle.
